Obituary
James “Jimmy” Schmidt, 72, of New Castle passed away on Thursday, March 23rd 2023. He was born in Pittsburgh on June 12th, 1950 to the late James and Dorothy (Bitzer) Schmidt. Jimmy worked in sales most of his life. He was loving, caring, funny, extremely sociable, and had hundreds of friends that cherished him. He was known to be an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, especially for the Pirates, win or lose. He was an active member of AA and New Creation FMC in New Castle. Jimmy would help anyone, was loved and will be forever missed. He was the father of Bernadette (Brian) Grover and Melissa Schmidt Junker; brother of Evelyn (Bill) Synan, Dottie Schmidt, Eileen Schmidt, and Suzanne (Terry) Vattimo; grandfather of Holly, Ryan, James, Tre, Payton; great grandfather of Vada. He is also survived by a large and loving family. Friends and family will be received on Monday, March 27, 2023 from 3-7 PM in the SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 NEW CASTLE RD. BUTLER, PA 16001, WWW.SPENCERDGEIBEL.COM. A prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home.
