Harriett McDonald Obituary

Harriett Carol McDonald, 101, of Butler passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023. She was born in Pittsburgh on November 14, 1921 to the late Henry and Gladys (Bryce) Lewis. Harriet was an active young lady. She loved playing sports and hanging around her brothers. She went to South Hills High School and still holds the record for the fastest 60 yard dash in track and field. She was asked to go to the 1940 Olympics, but the games were canceled due to World War II. Harriett was married to Ralph McDonald in 1940 until his death in 1999. She joined the Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1953. As an Adventist she held the offices of Sabbath School Secretary, Teacher, Youth Leader, and most recent Local Elder. Harriett was the mother of Timothy (Beverly) McDonald, Bonnadell Wiggins, Robert (Pat) McDonald, and David (Angela) McDonald; grandmother of Lawana (Jonathan) Wimberly, Eric Cralle, Monica (Edward) Graham, Darrell Jones, Lanita (James) Caldwell, Patrick McDonald, Robert McKnight, Carmalita Cahill, and a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her son in law Renard Wiggins. Family and friends will be received from 9-11 AM on Friday, June 16, 2023 in the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Butler, 290 Meridian Rd. through SPENCER D. Her funeral will immediately follow in the church at 11 AM, burial will be held at Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
