Carl Yankowski Obituary

Carl J. Yankowski, 74, of Butler, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Butler Memorial Hospital. He was born July 22, 1948, in Butler to the late Mitchel and Helen Yankowski. Carl graduated from Butler High School in 1966. He graduated from MIT in 1970 with degrees in electrical engineering and management.

Over his thirty–year career, Carl worked for many well–known companies including Procter & Gamble, Memorex, PepsiCo, General Electric, Cadbury Schweppes, Polaroid, Sony, Reebok, and Palm, Inc. While at Memorex he was part of the development of the successful “Is It Live or Is It Memorex” campaign. While at PepsiCo he worked on the “Pepsi Challenge” marketing campaign. While at General Electric he helped develop the “Spacemaker” line of products and the “We Bring Good Things to Life” campaign.

The Butler High School class of 1999 recognized Carl as a Distinguished Graduate.

Carl enjoyed aviation, classic automobiles, and electronics.

Carl was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 17th, 2023 from 9-9:30 AM in the SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 NEW CASTLE RD. BUTLER, PA 16001, WWW.SPENCERDGEIBEL.COM. A funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home.
